Nobody (or almost nobody, we can’t speak for a certain Presidential candidate) likes firing employees. Making decisions that directly affect an employee’s livelihood is often difficult, and the encounter itself is usually uncomfortable and emotionally charged. However uncomfortable it might be though, every employer has a responsibility to handle personnel matters properly, unlike Texarkana restaurant Ironwood Grill.
Ironwood drew the ire of much of the internet at large earlier this year for firing an employee via text message, and employers would be wise to learn from their mistake. No matter how uncomfortable it might be, firings should be done directly and in person.
